Almost 31 weeks!!!!

Well... I told myself I would be better about updating weekly, but life gets in the way!
Anywho, I am almost 31 weeks and I can't believe that we have made it this far. I have been living with gestational diabetes for 7 weeks and I'm also taking insulin. I really try my hardest to keep all my meals lows in carbs, so my sugars don't spike, but breakfast is killing me!!!  I have to go to the diabetic clinic every Monday, I take my sugars 4 times a day, take insulin at night and at breakfast, and then watch what I eat....Not easy, but this little guy needs me, so I am doing all I can for him.
Being almost 8 months pregnant, I know my shower is around the corner! I can't wait to see all the hard work my mom has put in and who will be part of my special day!

I'm still feeling pretty great and except for the extreme heat and aches and pains, I am feeling pretty amazing!!

wow, 99 days to go!

I can't believe today marks 99 days till our little one arrives. When I realized that we were no longer in triple digits, I had to count, and count again to make sure I wasn't mistaken.  A lot has gone on this past month that made it go by so fast, that is why I feel like I lost track of the time. First off, I have been diagonsed with Gestational Diabetes. I knew this was coming, but to be diagonsised at 23 weeks, is almost 5 weeks earlier than most women.  I was very upset to find this news out, and I am so sad to think that my health could hurt the baby.  I have been signed up to go to the clinic every Monday, and I must check in with all the health professionals so they can monitor my health.  I have been sticking to my diet and haven't strayed yet. In fact, they are concerned that I am restricting myself too much.  I was told that I would need insulin in the morning if I don't get my numbers down. So far this week I have walked every morning for 15-25 minutes.  I just hope it can buy me some more time without insulin.
Secondly, we ordered the furniture for the baby's room, and it is in.  The dresser came in last week and was delivered as expected.  In addition, Nana and Pa bought the baby his changing table and crib last week, too. That should be ready for pick up anytime today. I can't believe we are on our way to making this home ready for our adorable little boy we so longly can't wait to meet.
Finally, I have been busy with school ending, having a mini vacation, and then having summer school start.  I am so thankful that like always, summer goes by too fast and that means a little baby will be here shortly after.
My main goal is to make it to 37 weeks, so if he has to come early, I hope he listens to his momma and waits till the doctors think he is fully cook.
Well that's all for now!

WE ARE HAVING A ............................

Well yesterday, Saturday, May 12, we all gathered together as a family (proud Mom and Dad to be, Nana and Pa, Hampy and Am, Uncle Chris, Auntie Kim, Uncle Jimmy, Zachary, Uncle Adam and Auntie Maricar) to find out the sex of the baby.  We went to the Chateau in Norwood, MA and had dinner.  Everyone was sooooo excited and could hardly wait till dessert time. At 8:10 we all bit into our cupcakes and had the chance to see if it was a boy or girl.  As soon as we took that first bite and pulled away I knew that the frosting color was going to be blue.  Once we saw the color we all yelled, " I knew it!!!"   My gut instinct kept telling me boy all along and then knowing how many boys we hve on both sides of the family, I just knew it was going to be a boy.  I am so excited and overjoyed by the fact that our baby is growing in to a strong boy!!! I can't wait to agree on a name and start getting the room ready for the baby boy that will be joining our family.  I found myself using the term, son and saying we are going to have a son.  I'm sooooo in love and excited to know that I am going to be a mommy to a son!

Week 18 update

How far along? 18 weeks, 2 days
Maternity clothes? Yes, and i'm not concern about it...I love how comfortable I am with them on.
Stretch marks? Nothing new
Sleep: I am still having a hard time staying awake between 7-9pm. John is having a hard time with my falling asleep and feels like he has a roommate, rather than a wife. ;-(
Best moment this week: Realizing that I was only 1 week away from seeing our baby on screen again!
Miss Anything? Sleeping on my back and taking bendryl to sleep
Movement: I can't tell if it is the baby, gas bubbles, or just random shifting of my organs. Either way, I love thinking that it could be the baby down there.
Food cravings: I ate two boxes of fruity pebbles in the past 2 weeks.  I am also enjoying garlic bagels with chive cream cheese.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Knock on wood, I haven't been sick one day yet. However, adversion to food is happening almost daily.
Have you started to show yet: No, but when looking at my body naked, I look a little less flabby and more of a belly. I look "more pregnant" at night.
Gender: too early to know, but will find out on Saturday!!!!
Labour Signs: None
Belly Button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Pure happiness!! I can't wait to see if my gut feeling of having a boy is true!!!

Dear week 17 baby

Dear Baby,
As I approach my 18th week with you, I can't help but feel overwhelmed with happiness. The thought of you growing big and strong inside me sometimes takes my breath away.  I am continuing to do the best I can to keep you healthy, happy, and well taken care of.  I hope you know just how much everyone in this family is looking forward to meeting you and holding you!  Daddy reads to my belly every night, and he always talks to you when he wakes up, gets home from work, and when he sees you poking out of my shirt!  I love the way he loves you, because I know how much I love you already, but I am the lucky one who gets to bond with you for 9 months.  Also, Nana and Pa Higgins can't wait for you to grow big and strong and join the world in October. Nana is always asking about you, and pats my belly when she sees you! Pa always asks, "how's my grandaughter doing today?" We keep telling him, what are you going to do when you find out it is a boy!! Uncle Chris continues to send me names for you and Uncle Andrew loves to call you baby Carl.  In fact ,we all call you that for now! Am and Hampy are just as excited as everyone else! Am will ask about her "new baby" whenever we speak and even though Hampy doesn't say too much, I know he is thinking of you.

In 2 weeks we will get together as a family to find out if you are a baby girl, or a baby boy! All I ask is that you cooperate for the scan and that you are healthy, I honestly don't care either way, I'm just sooooo happy to know you are going to be ours to love.  Please continue to grow strong, healthy, and big (but not too big), and remember that Mommy and Daddy along with the rest of the family love you so much!

I can't wait to see you on May 10!
I love you little one.
Love,
Mommy
